Founded in 1879 by Pastor Robert C. Buckner, Buckner International has been dedicated from its beginning to addressing the needs of senior adults and vulnerable children through faith-centered values. The organization now serves half a million people each year — regardless of faith or affiliation — across the United States and worldwide.

After realizing the changing needs of older adults in Texas, Buckner opened its first retirement community in 1954. Since then, the organization has continued to expand, becoming the largest nonprofit senior living provider in Texas.
