  • Q: What is Medicare?

    Medicare is a federal insurance program that provides several types of insurance to cover specific medical events.

    • Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) covers comprehensive nursing care and rehabilitative services in a Skilled Nursing community immediately following a hospital stay.
    • Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) helps cover services such as rehabilitation therapy and home health costs that are not covered under Part A.
    • Medicare Part D covers medications.

    The Plaza at Stayton is a certified provider of Medicare services. 

  • Q: Who is Eligible?

    To utilize the Medicare Part A benefit, a patient must meet these qualifications:

    • Medicare is primary form of insurance
    • Spent at least three consecutive midnights in the hospital within the last 30 days


  • Q: What Does Medicare Part A Cover?

    Medicare will pay 100% for the services covered in the first 20 days of the 100 days of coverage allowed. For the remainder of the coverage period, up to 80 days, you are responsible for a daily co-pay set by Medicare. Your secondary insurance may cover part or all of this co-pay. Check with your insurance company to be sure. 

The following services are covered:

    • Room & Board
    • Routine Nursing Care
    • Routine Supplies
    • Personal Laundry

    Medicare covers charges for the following ancillary services, when approved:

    • Occupational Therapy
    • Physical Therapy
    • Speech Language Therapy
    • Medical Supplies
    • Laboratory
    • Pharmacy
    • Radiology

    Medicare reimbursement does not include charges for the following:

    • Beauty/Barber Services
    • Equipment Rental
    • Massage Therapy
    • Private-duty Nurse/Companion
    • Telephone
    • Transportation
  • Q: Complimentary services at The Plaza:

    • Basic cable and television
    • Telephone & local phone service
    • Walker/wheelchair – if needed
    • Transportation within a 12-mile radius
    • No additional charge for private rooms
  • Q: What Does Medicare Part B Cover?

    When the beneficiary is no longer covered by Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B may pay 80% of the following ancillary services. You, the beneficiary, or your supplemental insurance will be billed for the 20% co-insurance.

    • Occupational Therapy
    • Speech Language Pathology
    • Physical Therapy
    • Laboratory Tests
    • Prosthetic Devices
    • Radiology
    • Surgical Dressings
    • Tube Feedings
