We want to give you an update on the impact of COVID-19 in our community. Through our expanded testing efforts, we learned recently, that two additional Plaza residents tested positive for the virus. By way of recap, there are five resident cases of the virus in our community, three residents are being cared for in our Plaza, and two are being cared for in the hospital.
By way of recap, there are four active team member cases of COVID-19, these team members are self-isolating at home with the support of our Human Resources team.
Please be aware that additional resident and team member testing will be completed as required in our community by orders from our our attending physicians or the State of Texas on a regular basis. This includes additional testing of residents and team members on Monday June 29. Testing is completed to ensure timely and accurate identification of individuals who may become positive for the COVID-19 virus.
We understand that you have concerns about COVID-19 and the current situation in our community. Our team continues to be proactive in mitigating the risk of further exposure, and all residents in the Plaza are receiving heightened infection control measures. Team members are wearing personal protective equipment, including face shields and face masks approved for COVID-19. Our team is working with the appropriate authorities to comply with all requirements for additional Plaza resident and team member testing.
Texas is currently experiencing a surge in the number of new COVID-19 infections, and it is important that you protect yourself and other individuals in your community. As a reminder, Lifespace and The Stayton are continuing to follow heightened infection control guidelines. We encourage everyone to only leave the community for essential needs like groceries or critical medical appointments, practice social distancing, wear face masks or face coverings, and exercise proper hand hygiene. As we have done throughout the last several weeks, we will regularly communicate updates about our efforts to maintain a safe and healthy community.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact The Stayton management team.
